Selecting Your Concrete Patio Finish Stamped Concrete Patio
Stamped concrete patios in the Chicagoland area are an excellent alternative to stone, brick, and other materials, offering a stunning surface for an affordable price. Stamped concrete starts with a standard concrete installation, which is then stamped with a mold of your choice which can resemble flagstone, brick, and other materials.
Stamped concrete is also stained or painted various color tones and shades, making it virtually impossible to tell the difference between it and genuine stone or brick. You can view the color choices on our online color chart. You can enjoy a beautiful, upscale patio space for far less cost and with a faster installation when you choose stamped concrete versus genuine slate, flagstone, or pavers.
Brushed Concrete Patio
Brushed finish or broom finished concrete patios have been used for many years and provide a durable, high-traction surface. A good broom finish is something of an art. You can even create decorative effects by running the broom texture in various directions. This method of concrete finishes can be utilized on any surface to provide a sturdy non-slip environment for years to come. A brush finish surface can also be colored or have the sides and the control jointing re-tooled or traced to give it a sharp look.
Mao Concrete offers different types of broom finishes, which depends on groove depth.
Fine broom finish concrete:
Fine broom finish has a groove depth less than 1/32 inch. It is also called light broom finish. It is created with soft or horse hair bristle finishing brooms over the wet surface.
Medium broom finish:
Medium broom finish has groove depth between 1/32 to 3/64 inch. Typically our concrete finishes can use synthetic bristle or a horse hair finishing broom.
Heavy broom finish:
Heavy broom finish has groove depth between 3/64 to 1/8 inch. It is created with a stiff bristle finishing broom. Stiffer bristles will create deeper grooves in the cement surface.
